INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURE OF RUSSIA

The industrial production of Russia is dominated by heavy industries. The two largest industrial sectors are fuel industry and machine-building and metalworks, which together account for nearly 40% of the total industrial production. The share of consumer industries, such as light industry and food industry, totals less than16%. The industrial structure has been relatively stable for the past few years, although the fuel industry has somewhat increased its share due to the upward trend of oil prices.
