The following chart illustrates the structure of the industrial production as of January-February 2001.

The industrial production of Russia is dominated by heavy industries. The two largest industrial sectors are the fuel industry and the machine-building and metalwork industry, which together account for almost 40 % of total industrial production. The share of consumer industries, such as light industry and the food industry, totals only 14 %.
